Information from the Louisiana State Medical Society regarding volunteer physicians, licensure, and more following Hurricane Katrina.
Physician Volunteers Update of September 12, 2005
DJP Update 9-22-2005
Communication lessons post-Katrina
I am working via Louisiana State Medical Society and in constant communication with the American Medical Association and my "DJP Update Megalist" of physician leaders and medical and specialty executives. The list has over 1560 contacts and these contacts then send the info to their lists allowing the information to be disseminated to thousands. My goal is to be a source of credible timely information for volunteer physicians and work within the organized Medicine infrastructure. When my email contacts inform me that the published email address or phone number for physician volunteers to call at the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals doesn't work, I immediately relay that information to the Louisiana State Medical Society and they sent someone over to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and inform them about this problem.
